Seasonal window dressing

There is no doubt that a window displays adapted to the current season has its advantages over an all-season shop window in uniform design. Although the former is far more labor-intensive, it is quite possible the winning factor a retailer needs to gain the necessary edge over his competitors. Nevertheless, it is often the case that seasonal themes are not taken on in a consequent manner. A good example for this is halloween, which is getting increasingly popular in Europe. While getting more or less neglected in terms of window dressing in Europe, there seems to be real competition between shop owners to have the coolest display window in this regard in the in USA.

Retailers in a neighborhood in the West Village of New York City seem to be cutting-edge in designing shop windows for Halloween, and one could use the ideas utilized here as a role model for a striking halloween presentation.Decoration elements used in those display windows are classical elements for halloween, such as pumpkins or cobwebs and elements with a rather morbid charm such as skeletons, bones, grim reapers or masks that are so typical for halloween (available for example here), all of which arouse interest with potential customers.

Retail shops that have to be a little bit more unobtrusive with regard to their target audience, a proper halloween decoration is possible as well. A discreet window dressing may include elements such as bats or ravens to retain a more conservative corporate image.
