Seasonal window dressing

There is no doubt that a window displays adapted to the current season has its advantages over an all-season shop window in uniform design. Although the former is far more labor-intensive, it is quite possible the winning factor a retailer needs to gain the necessary edge over his competitors. Nevertheless, it is often the case that seasonal themes are not taken on in a consequent manner. A good example for this is halloween, which is getting increasingly popular in Europe. While getting more or less neglected in terms of window dressing in Europe, there seems to be real competition between shop owners to have the coolest display window in this regard in the in USA.

Shopfitting and Visual Merchandising Exhibition in Dubai

InRetail, by now the largest and most important trade fair for shopfittings and visual merchandising in the middle east, is taking place this year for the third time from the 14.-17. November in the Dubai World Trade Center. The main focus of the exhibition are, beside the presentation of several consultancy service providers focusing on the retail trade, yet again the display of high grade shopfittings for shopping centers, retail stores and supermarkets.

You probably won't get to see dessous wearing mannequins like the ones seen in the picture above in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the foreseeable future. A recent Reuters article illustrates that there is a quite different point of view concerning what can possibly be shown in a shop window.
